Hi All:
My Dad got 10 years multiple visa on Thursday, July 9,2009. Thanks to Path2USA:)
My dad choose to take interview in Hindi.Key for the appointments date is keep checking everyday (2-3 times).
After taking a visa Appointment Date, next thing to do was collecting all the papers. And the main problems I encounter were-
-My dad has to get an affidavit of a shop he bought 30 years ago and he did not have any paper work with him. So, he went to local municipality and got an affidavit stating that he owns that shop and is proprietor of that shop.

- I lost my actual birth certificate- so, he went to the municipality with photocopy of my birth certificate(luckily I had a scanned copy), they did not issued new but stamped the photocopy.

-My dad also got a Affidavit of Assurance that he has property, business and his family to go back to.

-He did not have a bank account, so I told him to open one and mid 5-digit amount in it.

So, after all this , I found that his first name spelling is different in my passport (ending with '-der' in my documents and ending with '-dra' in his. But luckily all his documents had '-dra' and my documents had '-der' so we thought if asked,he can say that it can be written in both ways as "Ram" and "Rama".

After all this , I made his bundle of documents -

Bundle-1: Appointment Letter, passport, HDFC receipt, DS-156, DS-157 (Not required in my Dad's case), My passport (first & last page), my current I-797.

Bundle-2-Sponsor Documents: Affidavit of Support (I-134, original), Letter to consulate, Invitation Letter to my Dad, Bank Account verification letter, Employment authorization Letter, Employment Benefit page, Last 3 month Salary Slips, Last 3 years W-2s, Last 3 years IT returns, Social Security card, My passport (All pages including my I-94), all my I-797s (I'd three), all employment letters (Offer letter+ experience letters), Birth Certificate, marriage certificate
I also made Additional Document Section in the this Bundle, containing- my spouse passport copy (with I-94), his all I-797s, Employment offer letter, his last 3 year W-2s 9as we file joint IT return), my business card, my Employer's webpage reflecting my name and designation, Employer ID, Driver's license ID.

(Keys: Prepare a cover sheet reflecting the Title of Documents. I also put Flags (Yellow sticky pad) on all documents with their title. It was a big bundle ~2.5 lb:) )

Bundle-3:Applicant Documents Affidavit of Assurance, Property Papers (I numbered them Property 1,Property-2...Affidavit if you don't have original papers), PAN Card, Recent IT-return, Bank Statement reflecting current amount (no need for passbook)
(Keys: I also provided a cover sheet for this bundle with flags on the side).

And finally, we went for interview with all this, I think VO was scared of so many papers and asked him only 3 questions
Aap kaha jana chahte hein- betiya se milne
VO showed my and my spouse passport picture to my dad ans asked- ye kaun hein- Bitiya aur Damad
Aapki beti kya Business karti hein-
Business nahi Job karti hein University mein

That's It- Visa granted:)
And he will be with me next week...

Goodluck to everyone!

Congratulations.

And Do not forget to get a temporary health insurance for your Dad. It may not be needed, but I always do it when my mom visits me. But anyway that is your call.
