Visa Renewal

Does anyone know if someone is going for Visitor Visa renewal how long does that take to get the passport back if Visa is approved? For new Visa for my father it took 1-1/2 month, so I was wondering is it the same time frame for visa renewal.

It took 1 1/2 months for your Dad to get his passport back from the date of his interview?? That can't be right...
A renewal is nothing but a new visa so the process and time frames remain the same.

Thanks for your response. I was just curious.
My dad's interview was on 9th Apr 09 and his visa got Proccesd on 15th May(status update on VFS website) and he got passport back by courier on 18th or so...So it was approx. one and half month process and Officer told him after interview that he will get passport back within 60 days.

Wow! That is a long time to wait for a tourist visa! When my parents and in-laws went for their visa interviews, they'd got back their passports within the week... but this was back in 2004, so maybe things have changed a bit since then.
To be on the safe side, I'd suggest you keep that much of a margin alteast between interview and travel to the US.

In her mother's case visitor visa was issued immediately. In her father's case, it seems his case got stuck in name check and hence the delay.
