H1b along with B2(tourist) visa

Hello Friends

I have a H1B stamped on my passport. But I have not travelled on the visa yet as my employer is not able to find a suitable project for me.
I now need to travel to US to visit family and friends. Can I apply for a toursit visa even though I already have an H1B stamped.
In case I can apply for tourist visa to US, will my H1B be cancelled??

Please let me know your response ASAP as I am thinking of applying to US consulate so wanted to clear this doubt of mine.

I'm sorry but it seems unlikely that you could get a tourist visa. You already have an H1, meaning you plan to live in the US in the future....a tourist visa is granted when the VO is satisfied that you have ample reason to return to your home country. This might be seen as an attempt to get to the US "at any cost".
