My parents are visiting me and have been granted a 6 months stay. We have applied for a possible extension, but have not heard back from Immigration other than them confirming receipt of the same.
Would appreciate if other members could share, their experiences on:
1) Is an extension usually granted for a visitor visa for a period beyond six months? The visitors in question are my parents who are retired, I am not sure if this is a criteria in the decision making process.
2) What happens if the extension is rejected at the last moment and no airline tickets are available? Does INS allow some kind of a Grace Period to fly out of the US?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
