Extension of 6 month stay - 1st visit on 10 yr multiple entry visitor visa

My mother joined me in US about 3 months ago. She has a 10 year multiple entry visitor visa and this is her first visit to USA. She got I-94 for 6 months.

Would anybody advise me if this is the right time for applying for her extension here in US? What should be the best reason I should be giving? My mother is 70 yrs old.
