Hi!,

I am planning to call my parents (63 and 54yrs old) to USA for the purpose of tourism. My dad is retired and and my mom is a house wife. Eventhough, my husband is sponsoring them and they are are my parents....Do I have to send them my original Date Of Birth Certificate, when I am sending all the sponsor documents....

I have read in the path2usa.com in the list of visitor documents required that:

For parents visiting a child resident in the US:
If child is an Indian citizen.

a. Child's original birth certificate.
b. Photocopy of all pages of child’s passport.
c. Where the US visa of child has expired, photocopy of the renewed petition required.
d. Where child is a legal permanent resident in USA, photocopy of the green card (front and back) is required.

Please clarify, about the point 'a' and 'c'

One more question is, I know that, WE have to fill the DS-156 Application form at the time of setting up an appointment... What about DS-157 Application? Do we have to fill that form also for both..... Please clarify as soon as possible...as it is so confusing....

Also, give us good suggestions, so as to get the visitors visa...any tips would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks for your help...

a) If you care applying at Mumbai consulate, Original Birth certificate is what Mumbai consulate has listed as one the requirement to show during the interview, so if you have the original birth certificate and your parents can carry it , that would be best, else in many cases a color copy worked as well.

c) This is applicable , if your husbands visa stamp is expired ? If not you dont have to worry abt this.

D) DS-157 is not for every one, it is only for certain age..dont worry When you fill the application on VFS website, all the necessary forms will show up automatically based on the data you enter about the applicant.

Good luck !
