Does Visa availability depends on Purpose of Visit?

Hi All,
Last week I was trying to block date for my mother-in-law's tourist visa .. It was showing March 26th available when I selected visiting reason as "Spouse/Child of person working in USA" but didn't show availability when I was selecting "Tourism" as reason.
Does it makes sense?

Also, Can I put "Spouse/Child of person working in USA" while applying visa for my Mother-In-Law?

Please advise.

Probably that option is for those applying for H4 visa. So your Mother In Law may not come under that category.

I got the visa appointment in Delhi Consulate with Tourism as Reason of visit last night... But still wondering why it was not showing it that day?
