Hi!
My parents were rejected at the first attempt at chennai.now i am able to get only feb 3rd as the next appointment date which is wayy too late.Is there anyone who has got an appointment by some other means other than using the cancel/modify option online. For some reason nobody seems to be cancelling or i am plain unlucky.did anyone go to the tts office and get an earlier appointment.
Also my fathers place of birth in the online booking is diff from his passport info,(he gave me wrong information). Is there any way of changing it or do i have to cancel the entire appointment.
I keep hearing that you can go to the tts office and get an earlier appt but its not mentioned on their website.Has anyone actually done it?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help.....

Hi Arshea,
For my mother I wanted to have the faster appointment. As our consualte was mumbai consulate. I applied directly to the mumbai VFS for my mother ( throught my brother). And she got appointment in just 1 week. Though I postponed it by 15 days.. as it was early for me.
I think rather than doing it online.. apply personally.. It will be faster and above all you can choose the dates..
Hopw it will help you

You have to keep checking. It is not that no one is cancelling, every cancelled appt is picked up by some else in a few seconds. So you have to be fast. I directly use the modify/cancel option to check instead of check availability. Also back & fwd link doesn't work, you have to relogin again to fetch the latest data. I was able to modify an appt. on Nov 8th to Oct 28th, then Oct 21st and finally Oct 8th. As I am infront of a PC thro'out the day I was checking very frequently. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Hi karthik,
Were you able to change this recently? I mean was it before/after this WaitList appointment link was introduced?
These days I do not see anyone cancelling appointments.
Kindly clarify

The guidelines for applying at delhi/kolkata for applicants from chennai/mumbai consulate areas are mentioned on the ttsvisas website
In certain limited circumstances the U.S. consular sections in New Delhi and Kolkata accept non-immigrant visa applications from some applicants residing in the Chennai and Mumbai consular districts. Delhi and Kolkata will accept out-of-district applications only from persons who speak English fluently, have not previously been refused a visa for any reason, and who can demonstrate need to travel before an appointment is available at the US Consulate General serving their place of residence. The average wait for an appointment at New Delhi and Kolkata is currently 6 weeks. New Delhi and Kolkata will not accept requests from persons in the Chennai or Mumbai consular districts seeking appointments earlier than available on this website.
Per the above info, u must speak fluent English and must not have been refused a visa for any reason earlier. Also, u must have a valid reason for urgent travel.

Hi Shubha!
Can you tell me where you saw this information about someone applying in calcutta after rejection at chennai.i am thinking along the same lines but the tts website specifically says that its not allowed if you have been rejected previously....language is not at all a problem for me..
thanks a lot

Hi shubha,
You mentioned that someone applied from calcutta in second attempt after being rejected elsewhere. Is it true? Are we allowed to apply from another consulate?Language is not a problem as my parents lived in calcutta for 30 years.and also opted for english.
Can yu pls let me know. This is my only hope of an earlier appointment.
Thnaks a million
