Hi,
I got married in SEPT and my wife is here with me. Is it required to get TIN for her in order to claim the tax benifits next year ?
My tax guy said that he will get the TIN while filing my tax next year. I am planning to go back to INDIA for good in JAN and one of my friend will hand over my W-2s to tax guy.
Looks like I need to give him the notarized copy of her passport, I94 and W7.
Any suggestions regarding this will behelpful
I stay in sunnyvale and which office should I consult to get the TIN?

Thanks in advance
Naveen

Yes, recently rules for TIN has changed, ie.e you can now apply the TIN along with the tax file papers at the year end so you have to get the TIN along with tax filing this year .
You can still do that in JAN ..

I would say you should take it and file as Married to get tax benefits.
