medicine from india

Hi,

My parents will be visiting us for 6 months. My dad has BP and is on medicine and my mom is diabetic and has a lung problem. She too is on medication.She has arnd 10 tablets to take every day.

Can they bring 6 months stock of medicine with prescription and letter from doctor . Will customs create any problem.

Or when they are here in US.Can my family in india mail it to us with prescription.

Is Indian prescription valid in USA.

ICICI lombard covers pre-existing diseases only when its life threatening ..so will it cover the medicines.

Please do advice.

I am also a diabetic and BP patient. I carried 6 months medicines in my cabin baggage with Doctor's prescription. Nothing happened. I travelled to Dallas on 12.12.2007 by American Airlines.
Your parents need to carry Doctor's prescription along with medicines.
They can also carry OTC medicines but they need to have bill for the same.

Some people whom I met in Dallas also told me that they have carried medicines from India along with Doctor's prescription. So, do not worry on this issue.
