Hi,

I am planning to bring by mother in law over to US on a visiting Visa. Her name in my Wife's passport, Wife's birth certificate and other property documents is only'Geetha' (only the first name), while her full name is Geetha Chandrabose.

She has yet not taken her passport and we were wondering, would it be better to just have the first name on the pssport or is it better to have the full (both first and last) names? If we put the full name there will be a mistmacth with the other documents, on the other hand I hear that lately the use of "FNU" is not allowed and it is very difficult ( to impossible) to get a Visa if the passport does not have a last name.
Experts , please advise.

Thanks in advance,

My mom recently got visa on sep11th.She had no last name in passport so I used FNU for visa forms and there was no problem with that.I hope this helps you.
