Hi,
I am a B.E in Civil from Mumbai University, June 2003 pass out. While doing my B.E I had a one year drop in First Year.
After completion of my B.E, I worked for a Construction firm as Site Engineer for 1 Year and 3 Months. I left that firm and joined Applied Software Engineering course (was full time course totally on core Java and J2EE).
I got a certificate of Applied Software Engineering course. Then after I worked in small company for 6 months as Software Engineer, which manufactures cables, they recruited me to develop and maintain their inhouse web project.
Soon after 6 months I left that company and joined other company and till the date (i.e 2 years and 6 months) I am working as Senior Software Engineer.
I am having total 3 years of IT Experience and 1.3 years of other experience.
My queries are:
1. Am I applicable for H1B for IT job?
2. Will my graduation stream and after graduation first job affect for H1B processing?
3. I am having all certificates mentioning IT related course and work experience along with skill set mentioned, are they enough for H1B processing?
4. Now I am going to join a renowned CMM 5i company, will it help for easing up H1B processing?
5. I am looking for getting an offer from US Company directly, do my background satisfy the needs of H1B visa?
Please do help me by answering my queries. Thank you.

Simran is right,
I got the question from V.O.
As I did Electrical Engineering.
V.O asked me "Your graduation is not related to Computer Science, what additional qualification you hold to prove your education in Computer Science"
My response " Electrical Engineering do have proper computer education as elective subjects which I had done in my engineering (showed my consolidated mark sheet with some programming subjects in it), I did completed various certification on computers (showed my certifications) and I have 8yrs of IT industry"
You need to prove your experience is worth getting H1 in the best possible way. Your "Applied Software Engineering course" and experience in well known MNC will help you a bit.
Best of luck.

simran and act accord are right in what they have stated. during last year for H1B stamping, lot many people were queried on this by VOs and some of them were rejected.

But if I am having some points to prove my specialty in Software domain, still my one year drop may or may not affect H1B processing.

Hi,
If you have sufficient experience to show and your company is a good one, the one year drop will not matter at all....

Can anybody add some info about which is the good consulate for H1B?

In your home country, you must attend at the consulate serving your residence in most cases. The specific consulate you attend will not affect you; some consulates have a higher number of fraudulent applicants and thus have a reputation of being a bad place to attend interview.

As Simran said, this was fine few years ago. I had the same situation a year ago as my graduation is from non-computer field. But I had a 3 year full time IT certificate, 8 years of experience which included 3 years of overseas experience which made the impact on the VO. And now given the situation in US market, every single detail will be looked through carefully. Though 3 years of IT exp + MNC exp may give an edge but it prooves to be good when the VO gets satisfied at the time of interview with the documents you carry and your level of confidence in replying the VOs queries

Better do nothing rather than putting fake certificates unless you want to land in troubles, in caught. If you wish to work, study some relavent courses for a year or two then start looking for a job or if you want to really make use of your time, try some charity work in your community i.e. libraries, child care, schools etc.). Hope I did not hurt you.

Many times consultant over look the experience letters, they are only concerned with years of experience.
But I will advice do not land yourself in trouble.

MISREPRESENTATION = PERMANENT BAN FROM US You are on H4 now. Do you really want to be deported for this illegal act?
