Husband came to US 3 months back got project now for solid contract upto 1 and half years. Brought his wife from India 15 days back who is 4 months carrying now.

Employer is the typical desi employer with no empoyees except my friend. Their no group insurance for the desi employer. My friend is fighting hard to cover his family under his group insurance because he will give birth his baby in US. But the employer is reluctent to do.

The question is if the empoyer goes now for group insurance, will the insurance company cover the maternity under group insurance without any pay for my friend. Pl. suggest.

what is best for him ? delivery in India or US. Pl. reply me immediately.

It is unlikely that any health insurance would cover your wife. A new group policy would certainly exclude pre-existing conditions to the start date of the policy.

Most insurance policies require payment to the hospital or doctors in the form of co-payments; very few policies cover all of the costs.

Your friend's wife would best return to India or they should expect to pay $10,000 - $20,000 for basic services and far more for complications.

It will be good for the husband to look for a job in a company which offers Group Insurance. As I understand, he would be on H1 and it will be very easy for him to switch.
