Having this R B1/B2 tourist visa type for 10 yrs, can I visit the USA any number of times? provided i stay in USA for not more than 6 months? can I do a job search while in the USA on a holiday visit? Do all types of jobs in the USA require a work visa?

Yes, all jobs require a work visa which are extremely limited in number and have specific education and employer requirements.

Although you may find a job while on B2 visa entry, it is unlikely that you could change to a work visa since the next available start date for H1B visas os October 1, 2009 if your petition happens to be selected in the likely lottery.
