My parents have 10 year multiple entry USA visa. But during their last visit they overstayed by 5 days after 6 months
of actual granting stay at the SFO airport on their arrival. The overstay was due to the pending application ( I539 i think)
of extending their stay for another 3 months..

Someone said that if they overstay, the 10 year visa becomes void.. Can you comment? Or refer me to someone who can address this query? I -539 responded just 1 day before their last day (6 month)regarding the decline so they waited for 5 days to get the next
available airline booking.

Don't believe what Some one say,
If you have proof ( receipt of the extension application) thats fine, once you apply for extension one can stay until the decision is made.

Have them save all their boarding passes, etc to show they left promptly after receiving the denial.

When they come again, they should definitely NOT attempt to extend whatever stay they are given. They are also likely to be given a very short authorized stay if they try to come again very soon (within a year or two).
