B1 / B2 for visit to US

I have a B1 / B2 for 10 years, sponsored by my previous company in india. Now i work in another company in india itself.

My query is : Can I go to US for a short visit of say 3 to 6 months as a visitor with myself sponsoring my tickets etc..???

Remember the Business visa purpose is for business trip, so when you reach at the POE, officer will ask the purpose of your trip, I dont think that 6 months stay request and reason as personal leisure trip would help..

But VFS-usa sites say that a B1/B2 visa can also be used for tourist puspose . So can i use it for tourism.?

Yes. It allows you to apply for entry at the border. It is up to the IO at the border to decide whether or not to admit you and for how long.

Hint: A 6 month visit for a business person on vacation is not believable.
