Hi,

I am on H1 visa and sponsoring vistors visa for my in-laws. My father-in-law is an advocate. Can I mention that he is an advocate in DS-156 form as he is not working in any company? Since the embassy people are asking to show the proof (like job / assets / income ..etc) in India, so that the person will come back.

Please help me out.

Since your father in law is an advocate, & if he is an panel advocate for nationalized banks or attorney for private firms who just handles the litigation works before the courts, then he can very well produce a referrence letters from the companies or nationalized bank that he is their advocate and looking after their cases.

Further there is no wrong in mentioning as an advocate in Ds 156 form. You are telling the truth.

This letter will prove that he will not stay in US it is only for a visit.
