Hi all,

My parents are planning to come over to visit me here in the US this coming October ‘08. They plan to visit for about 3 - 4 months (October ’08 – January ‘09) long vacation. My concern is they have multiply entry visa that is about to expire in 4 months counting from the month of October (the visa expired Feb. 2009). They heard from some friends back home that they can’t go to US if that is the case.

Should we:
1. Re-apply for the visitor visa again since theirs will expire Feb. 2009 then we buy the tickets for October-January.

2. Or go ahead and buy the tickets for this vacation since they are going back to their origin on January (before the visas expire.)

Thank you All and please advice me.

I believe their friends are confusing passport validity with visa validity.

They may present themselves for entry until the expiration date of the visa; the length of their authorized visit may extend past their visa validity. The length of the visit is determined by the IO at the border. It is quite possible that they will be granted the maximum stay even though that date is after their visa has expired.

With their planned schedule, they should have no problems. I hope they have a nice trip!
