Hi all,
My parents appeared for visa interview on the 28th sep(today) at Chennai. The interview went normally. But we had missed out on sending my passport copy to them(my husband is sponsoring for their visa). Eventually, the interviewer asked for my passport and since they did not have it, she gave them a form that said that passport was missing and asked them to include it and submit it through drop box at Chennai. She gave back all the original documents and asked them to submit it in the dropbox. She also said that they need not appear for personal interview again. So does this mean that their visa has been approved? I am very much concerned. Is there a chance for rejection after applying through drop box? help!
thanks
manju

Based on what your wrote here It seems like visa may have been granted and they are wiating for the copy of your passport, but you cant be sure unless you get the thing in your hand but be hopefull and positive about it.

Note: Its been said many times , who ever is sposoring their parents or in-laws , the complete copy of passport of the Son/Daughter is must to submit.

Mr.Murali, Thank you for the reply. My parents got the Visa. They got it for 1 year. We couldn't have done it without all the information, tips and the great discussion forum on the path2usa. Many users had posted their interview questions, which was very helpful to us. So I would also like to do that....

the Qs were first asked to my mother.

are you <my moms' name>
- yes ma'm

how long have you been working at xyz?
- 30 years

how many children do you have
- 2 daughters

Whats the second daughter doing?
- She just got a job at xyz and is unmarried

to my father...
What are you doing sir?
- am doing <so and so> business

How long?
- 7 years

Are you employed at the business?
- No am doing it on my own

What were you doing before this?
- I was working with xyz as <so and so>

What is the purpose of your trip
- To visit places in US

So what are the places you are planning to see?
- I have a lot on my list but wherever my son-in-law takes us, we'll go

Do you have a copy of your daughter's passport? (my parents did not have it. Thats y they were asked to submit all docs with the passport thro the drop box)
- I am sorry. No madam

Ohh.. but u must have it....
- We did not know that. We thought that the sponsor's passport copy was sufficient.

No. your daughter is your link here. So you need to have her passport. So submit the documents with her passport included.
- do we have to come again for the interview ma'm?

thinks for a while...
No sir. that is not needed. I'll give u a form. just put all the docs, ur passport and ur daughter's passport copy in the dropbox along with the form.

So thats it.... We faxed my passport pages on the same day and they submited all the docs at TTSvisa premises and they got the visa in a week.....

Hi ms7973,

I am inviting my parents to us. My husband will be sponsoring the visa. My question is should we send 2 set of passport copies to each parent or is one is enough. Both my father and mother are applying at the same time and have got interviews at the same time.

any help appreciated
thanks,
slilac.

Hi Slilac,
Sorry I saw ur post very late. One set of passport is enough for both the parents. But send both ur and ur husband's passport copies(if there has been any passport renewals, send a copy of ur old passport too), if u have not already sent the docs.
Best Wishes for them to get the Visa
