Regarding L1 / L2 Visa ...

Hi all,

My fiancee is currently in the US in L1. She'll come here & process my L2 thru her company. After marriage, planning to go back together. Both of us our working in IT.

Not sure if its silly, though this is my query:
1. Having got a job in US with my L2, I presume I'll work there for a year. I've seen many people querying abt L2->H1 transfer. But Im just wondering if a L2->L1 is possible, if assuming the company I work for has a branch in India.

2. Can we apply for Green Card with my fiancee in L1 & me in L2? and is there any time period we should stay there before applying for one ?

Hi Vidi,

L2 to L1 is possible. While u r in US you can get ur L1 petition approved as well as do a Change of status along with ur L1. So when ur L1 gets approved you will automatically change to L1 status.

We did it recently for my wife.

Thank you for your reply. Could you please spare some time & explain that process a little & the conditions required, if any? like, the company I work at US, should it be present in India as well? & I should work in that company for atleast 1 yr rite? and do I need to return to India, get L1 & then return?
