- would it be fine if the visitors say that they would buy the flight/insurance on their own and while at US they would be taken care by the sponsor, at the visa interview
- Is it better to say '3 to 4 weeks' trip to US or is it fine if they say its '3-4 months of trip'.

Yes they can mention that Visitors will be taking care of airfare and insurance and rest will be sponsored by the sponsor. You will need to specify the same thing in DS156 too.

It is better to say 4-6 weeks (or max 8 weeks) instead of saying 3-4 months
