Hi,

My mom is planning to visit me in month of Jan. Since Chennai had all dates booked for Nov, we took apointment at Delhi consulate for 2nd week of Nov.

My question is, do we (my mom) have to mail the documents to the consulate 30 days before the appointment date? I read this somewhere and I am confused about it. Also will the Delhi consulate question as to why we opted for Delhi instead of Chennai?

Please let us know, awaiting your response......

Thanks a lot for your good work!!

The 30 day rule is only for mumbai consulate - all appts for mumbai are handled thru VFS.
For Chennai, Delhi the appointments are handled by TTS.
Please check the tts website - ttservices.com. All information about required documents, etc is on the chennai consulate website.

Also, if u schedule an appt in Delhi consulate when u belong to chennai consulate region, the applicant wld need to meet the following criteria: ( They would definitely want to know why u took appt at Delhi consulate - getting an appt 2 months late would not be an answer - u must have a reason for urgent travel)

1) Be fluent in english.
2) Have a valid reason for urgent travel.

This information has been clearly explained on tts / delhi consulate websites.

Urgent U.S. Visa-Seekers from Chennai, Mumbai may apply in Delhi, Kolkata.
NEW DELHI - Beginning Monday, March 22, the U.S. consular sections in New Delhi and Kolkata will accept non-immigrant visa applications from the Chennai and Mumbai consular districts to assist those with an urgent need to travel to the United States.
Applications will only be accepted from applicants who will apply in person, speak English fluently, have not previously been refused a visa for any reason, and can demonstrate an urgent need to travel before an appointment is available at the US Consulate General serving their place of residence.
