Hello,

I'm a US citizen legally residing in Monterrey, Mexico with my
Mexican wife. We have a small business here and have no desire to
live or work in the US. My wife applied for a tourist visa but it
was denied as she is married to me. It was suggested we apply for
residence but this is not an option for I have no US residence and
we have no desire for her to live or work in the US. Are there any
other options open to us? Her visa interview was over in 30 seconds
when the interviewer saw she was married to a US citizen. No chance
was given to show economic solvency or any of our paperwork.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

This is generally a valid concern and reason for the offier to deny the visa becuse of the fact that , thier asuption of a spouse of a US citizen should seek a different visa K3/permanent residency GreenCard and not a Tourist visa.

I understand that but if we have no intention of living in the US and therefore cannot apply for residency what can we do? There seems to be no policy in our case. We are stuck between no being able to get a visa and not being able to get residency.

Thanks for your reply and to anybody who might be able to help.
