Dear Murli/All,
I have to sponsor visa for my parents i would like to know -
1) What is the minimum account balance required?
2) I have only USD 5000 in my account and planning to invite them to US
3) I do not have form W2, since i arrived US in April 2007.
Kindly update me in this regard ASAP as i am running short of time.
Regards

There is no such limits min/max. All you need is the money to support travel/insurance/tickets etc so that they would not become public charge in US. It is better to show 15K.

Bank Balance is the proof of your wealth in US to support your visitor, hence chances would be better if you show higher balances incl other assets/properties. You could take from a friend and deposit in to bank and then you ask bank rep to give consular letter. next day you could with draw if you are in hurry, but better to maintain till the visitor visa appointment
