Dear Members,

I would like to get your advice on my case. I am on EAD. My wife is pregnant and we are planning to call my parents on visitor VISA sometime in March/April of 2008.

My father is an engineer.

He has done his MASTERS (MS) from Bridgeport University, CT in 1977. He had initially landed in USA in Sep 1974 on F1 VISA on Washington State University (WSU), Pullman. After completing a semister in WSU, he joined University of Bridgeport CT in Sep 1975.

My father had LEGALLY worked with XYZ company in Bridgeport for about 5 months as part of his student sub-contract program with university of bridgeport for which he has a referance letter from XYZ and his tax filing documents.

For sometime in Summer vacation, He had worked in a Boutique store (received payment in cash as it was not legal) at Bridgeport. May be someone reported this to INS at that time and he was called at INS office at Hartford and they took his passport and may be fingerprint also.

Later on a Lawyer told him to get job offer and he will get him a Green card BUT my father had declined the offer because he was planning to go back to INDIA. At that time, probably he had one semester to go which he completed and took his passport and left NY in April 1977. After that he did not try for US entry again. When his passport was in INS possession, they had noted following number on his passport (on F1 VISA Page and Last Page of passport) - "A21 035 163 HAR".

Since then my father has been into Service in India and retired in 2007. Now we want to call him and my mother to USA on visitor VISA.

I would like to get your suggestion on how to handle this case.

Does anyone know what "A21 035 163 HAR" means?

Should we be taking any precautions while applying for his Visitor VISA?

Should he show his old passport, SSN etc during VISA interview?

If the Visa officer asks (which I think he might) about the referance number noted on his old passport, what should he reply?

I would greatly appreciate your help/advice in this case.

Regards,
RM
