Hi,

I am filling DS-156 form on my mother-in-law's behalf as I am calling her from India. i am filling it from US as she does not know English.

My question is:
There is a field in DS-156 form that says "Relationship to Applicant" (Question 40). Should I write "daughter-in-law" or "mother-in-law".....I am confused.

Please help as soon as possible.

Thanks.

In section 39, if you answer 'Yes', then you are preparing the application for her and she is the APPLICANT. Then you should write your relationship with her in section 40 and NOT hers with you. And you will have to send the application signed by you from US to her to submit it to VFS.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I will write "daughter-in-law" and sign the form before sending it to her.
