I was trying to book appointment for H1 interview at US Consulate in Canada using https://www.nvars.com/. I got the below message before booking the appointment. I was planning for a 2 day stay in Canada (I have already paid the Visa feed at Scotia bank through a friend in Canada). But now it looks like I will have to plan to stay in Canada for at least 4 days. It looks like this is a new procedure which started from November 21.
If anybody has visited US consulate in Canada after November 21 please let me know the exact amount of days you were required to stay in Canada to get H1 stamped. Your help will be very much appreciated as I can plan accordingly for my Canada visit.

Here is the message -->

*URGENT: IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL H, L, O, AND P APPLICANTS* *Date Posted :
*Wednesday, November 21, 2007
------------------------------
All consular posts must electronically confirm all Non-Immigrant Visa petitions petitions prior to visa issuance.

This will affect applicants for H, L, O and P visas. This process may take an additional 2 to 3 workdays, creating a minimum 4 workday turnaround for such applicants. This confirmation is beyond our control and cannot be waived. Any petition based, otherwise qualified NIV applicant should be prepared to wait 4 workdays in Canada to receive his or her visaed passport.

We are looking at ways to reduce the expected 4 workday turnaround. U.S.
based non-immigrant visa applicants seeking to apply for an NIV are strongly advised to consider applying in their home country.
