After searching a lot with our limited mobility in the bay area, I brought sumeet mixer for $175. I brought the mixer keeping in mind of our Sumeet mixer we had in India that we used for 15 long years, with few repairs.

What is so different here?
Here they have put this "US Safety Standards" and it is very cummersome to use the mixer with that.

Its not so easy and convinent to close the lids of most the mixing jars.
The dry mixing jar's which is used most of the time has a design problem,
look at this picture.
http://www.bombaylimited.com/image.php?productid=18104, See the dry jar on the right side of the motor. The dry jar has a "Raincoat" type lid that covers the jar from top to bottom and has a handle to stir the contents in side.
The reason they have done this is becuase the lid comes all the way down to push a switch that will turn on the mixer, thats the american safety standard.

Because of this safetly standard it is inconvient to close and open the lid from that jar. This applies to other jas aswell, but you can get used to them quickly but not this stupid dry jar's lid

More over, if you add little extra water while preparing chutney, they just spill over from the top of the jar.

Yesterday I also noticed that one of the jar is developing rust :( . How can a food processing utencils rust?

The product also gets "hot" quickly (in 2-3 min) and according to the american safetly standard it turns itself off, so you have to wait for some time before you can start using it again. yeah you do have the reset button, but it does not help too much.

Though it has design problems, it does grind very well. So you can live with it but if you can avoid then do so.
