I was just wondering if there will be any tax imposed on the money that we send to India from USA? Please let me know. I appreciate your response.

I guess yes...but that applies to the person who gets it.Meaning, if you send a dollar check to your parents and they deposit it in their indian bank account, they will have to pay taxes on that. Hope that helps!!

Please,people who are not clear about tax laws in India do not comment anything unless you know it for sure.

I talked to a manager in SBI California, he told me that amount we send it to india (parents/ as a gift) is not taxable in India, but if they earn interest on that amount that is taxable.
