DS 156 question 26 - Duration of stay (Murali please give advice)

Hi,

My parents are going for their Visitor Visa for the second time in the end of this month. They were here in 2005 and at that time we have given the duration of stay in DS156 form as 4 months. Apparently, my parents got only a 4 month visa last time.

What should we give as the duration of stay this time? My dad's visa consultant in India adviced to put 2 months, but I am afraid this might end up getting a 2 months visa. What is the general duration to be given? (considering my parents had been here about 2 years ago for ~ 6 months I-94 stay)

there is not much significance to this information other then the fact that the officer should have convincing reasons for the duartion, 4-6 months is good to put.
In most cases second time people get for 10yrs.

Hi Murali,

My dad is a govt employee and he got leave sanctioned only for 2 months and mom is house wife. so i have mentioned 2 months for both the parents as advised in the discussion forum earlier. Reading the discussions above i am worried will they get visa only for 2 months or multiple entry visa. Shld i mention 4 months duration for my mom.
Their interview is next month, so i can still edit the DS-156 and mention the duration.
Please advice what to do.
