I know that visit visa is not valid for more than 6 months.But what I wanted to know is whether this validity applicable from the day we get the visit visa stamped or is it from the day we fly to US.

The visa validity starts from the day you enter the US.

Visa validity is different and Stay Validity is different.

Visa is issued by the Consulate in India. It could be from 6 months to 10 Year. This is the time frame that you can travel to US.

Stay stamping and duration (I-94) is issued at the Port of Entry in US. This could be from 1-month to 6-months. This is the time frame you can stay in US.
