Dated Client Letter. Seniors pls reply.

I had got a 221g - one of the things that the consulate wanted was a letter stating that there's a job waiting for me - and after lot of problems my employer was able to get a client position and also a letter stating that there's a job for me. The letter was dated in aug but I was in US - on business, @ that time. I only came back couple of days back.

Question is:
1. Can I send all the docs along with this 'dated' client letter to the consulate?
2. Should I also send in passport of my wife & kid - who had attended the interview with me.
2a. If I dont send their passports now, can we just do a 'dropbox' of their passports later - if and when I get my visa.
3. For some reason, will the consulate return my passport after I've submitted the docs.
a. If yes, how long does it take for the passport to be returned.
b. If they return the passport, will they suspend/reject my petition.

I would really appreciate a reply, from anybody whose faced a similar situation or from seniors like simran/murali et. al.

>> I dont see any issue sending this dated letter. What they basically look for is wether you job or not. If the letter addresses that, it shud be fine. Dont worry about date.

>> Send your passport and your dependants together whenever you send. But send them along with letter only if you were asked to send passports also along with docs. Otherwise first send docs only. Later they will ask you to send passports. Just a matter of time!
