Sorry I had this in a different thread, giving it its own thread :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guys, Need some advice.
I am scheduled to attend my H1 interview in Chennai in the last week of Oct. I have received most of the documents from my employeer. So far my employeer has had only 50-50 success rate in Chennai. He says guys with similar profile and exact same documentation, some are getting visa stamped and others are not(going back to USCIS for review). He says everything in Chennai consulate is predetermined(like how many visas they stamp in a day) and go accordingly. Is this information accurate?
In my current job, I have been asked to go for a 3 month trip to US on a B1 visa. They are asking me to go for stamping in mid oct and go to US in first week of Nov.
Is it worth the risk to attend the H1B interview in Chennai or cancel the H1 and go on a B1 and apply for H1 later? I am in quite a dilemma, please suggest.
Cheers

Thanks Pathrs.
I know it all depends on me. Is it really that bad in Chennai as it is percieved? Do VO really reject visas without even taking a look at all the documents? My employeer does have a sound balance sheet and has had 100% success rate last year. Why is it so different this year? I need to consider it throughly before i make my decision. Any opinions.

If you have all your documentation and your employers documents it should not be a problem
Make sure you have them in any case if you are going to chennai
Employer's tax returns
Unemployment wage report
Latest pay roll

Hi Parthrs,
I have W2 statements for all employees for 2005/2006, Tax returns for 2005, 2006 and Q1, Q2 2007.
What does Unemployement wage report mean? To whom is that filed and what information does it have?
I will try to get his latest pay roll.
Thanks

Hi,
VO at Chennai are v good, they generally reject candidates from Hyderabad and Chennai as US cons had very bad exp with fraudulant exp and degree holders. If u have genuine exp and good acads and fluent English, the doors of USA will be readily opened. All the best

even i hear of visa approvals in mumbai ....i do not know about other consulates but , mumbai unlike chennai consulate take all your documents 5 days prior to your visa appointment, which is why they review your credentials and also your employer(probably) beforehand,so when you face the interview, your perfomance comes into picture.
i am not sure about the reasons....but from what i see and hear and going by what employers in US have told....
if your employer isnt a well known , they need time to look into whatever documents you carry, they obviously do not have so much time during the interview...in this case they verify ur credentials and if convinced to are genuine they issue 221(g)blue silp, request for more documents from your employer...i've seen several ppl get this in chennai(mee too, and all the candidates of my employer).
nevertheless, some people are asked to drop their passport and few are not asked, i cannot comprehend the reason, doubts if there are any.
i even heard that if the no: of employees are more than 200 and visa approval is likely...ofcourse, goes without saying that your performance should be atleast resonably good in the interview and they dont think that you could be a fake.
ALL THE BEST TO EVERYONE!
