Hi,

My are parents will be attending the visa interview in a couple of weeks from now. There is one thing.
My last name and my parents last name do not match exactly. There is a spelling mistake in my last name and my parents last name. My parents last name is Pyda* and mine is Paida*. I have been with this Paida* name in US for the past 4 years and all my documents in US carry this Paida* last name only.

Initially I did not consider this a big problem. But after going through the forum I found that some of the visas were rejected because of this. Now I am afraid of this and I want my parents to be here in September end.

Will this be a possible reason for rejection. What can be done now. Please advice

Thanks
Chari

Do not worry too much about it.
Ask your parents to prepare a afidvait at local notary stating the fatcs and name problem and correct naes as per thier Passport.

Murali,

Can you explain me what does an affidavit mean and what my parents should do exactly... And whether it should attested by a senior goverment officer or notarized or something.

Please explain me... i don't know about this.

thanks

Affidavit is a simple statment statting the facts and situation , on a Stamp paper in India.
That statement can be notarised ( signed and stamped ) by local notray (authorised advocates in India) . You can find so many notary , in local market / outside lcoal court in India. Ask your folks in India and they must be awre of this process.

U can go to any pp office in india and get the passports endorsed with the correct name - please search this forum for similar queries.
u must show supporting documentation for the correct name.
The name endorsement takes only 2-3 days and can be done for correcting minor spelling mistakes as in ur case. its really simple
