If you think you are under Chennai consulate you should attend in Chennai consulate only

The address on the document does not really matter. You should appear for the interview in that consulate where you stand eligible.

Take a chance by attending interview in Mumbai. If asked to attend Chennai, then you attend. Who knows you may be accomadated.

If you are a US resident, you can choose which consulate you want to go to. If you are a resident in India, they have designated specific consulates based on you residence

generally you have to attend at consulate office based on your location in india..
since in your petition "mumbai consulate' is mentioned, you can attend there and if VO asks you can explain him the same and give some adding points..

Hello all,
I am in the same situation now. I have few questions since you told to take chance.
1. Is there any chances of visa getting rejected for this reason?
2. What answer can I give to VO if he/she asks why I have taken interview in Mumbai and why not in Chennai?
3. If I am redirected to Chennai, will I have to pay the visa fees again to take new appointment in Chennai?
4. My petiationer has given my permanent address as Mumbai and postal address as bangalore address. But for last 27 Yrs I am staying in karnataka. Can I ignore the address given by petiationer, go ahead and take the interview in Chennai?
Seniors, please help.
Any help/suggestion is highly appriciated.
jp2h1b, pls give me your personal e-mail id or phone number.
