Hi Murali,
My parents has been to Chennai embassy for Visa and it was rejected for both of them.

My father is a government employee and still working. All the officer asked was How many children do you have and what they are doing. They also asked my father what he is doing and then rejected.

Inspite of my request for translator while taking appoinment, they didnt provide one and when they posed a question to my mom my father asked for translator. Later one person was called who happened to be tamil translator and not telugu and my father said he is not right one. And after that officer didnt ask any more wuestions to my mom but visa was rejected.

Is there any other better way to assure they provide translator.

1. How to reschedule another appointment now? Do I have to take another appointment like first time again in regular queue bcos next available is in October and they want to come here earlier?

2. What are the chances of getting visa second time.

3. I have also heard from some people who have written letters to senator/congressmen assuring their return back and they have succeded. How good is this option?

I have sent all the documentation and they have not looked at anything at all.

I am really feeling helpless.

Don't panic. I have seen many people getting their visas approved in their second attempt. My parents got it recently after getting refused the first time. Now to answer your questions:

1. As far as I know there is no shortcut. The best way to do it make an earliest appointment available ASAP and check for any open slots every now and then. If you are lucky you might be able pick up any last minute cancellations.

2. It mainly depends on the reason why they were refused the first time. But I would say it's as good as the first time when it comes to chennai consulate.

3. If the second attempt fails you can try other possibilities.

Hi mili,
Thanks for your response. I am also wondering if I need to resend the paperwork as they are going second time for the visa. (atleast the latest pay stubs and employment letters.

Also any specific questions they have to be ready to answer second time?

In the rejection letter they just mentioned that we are unable to issue visa to you today. My father says there is no reason specified.

Only questions asked were how many children and what are they doing and we both children happened to be in US.
