Visitir Visa Extension...

Hi,
Has anyone had to extend a visitior Visa (B-2) in the past 3-6 months.
My mother-in-law has come from india. I would like to have her stay extended. I have been hearing that getting an extension is not easy as before due to 9/11 and lot of things have changed. Also how long does it take to get an extension?
In case her extension is denied and we receive the notice after she has left to india ( For example we apply for extension,her 6 months ends in november, and she stays till feb then leaves to india, in march we get a notice saying her extension is rehjectd), how does one handle that situation.

By the time you recive the answer from the INS, and the person is already left the country there is nothing u have to do. Only thing one should be aware that request for ext. and overstaying is considered as a negetive in consulate perpective so next time it may be difficult to get the Visa, but this is not a thumb rule and depends on the consular officer.
