I have invited my father to visit me since my mother passed away very recently and he is alone in India. I am his only child. He has no other children in India. He is a retired state government officer getting pension and having property in India.

A common question asked at POE is "what is the reason of your visit?". Should he give the true reason as i.e " I am coming here to comfort my daughter who has lost her mother and to get some comfort for myself after loosing my wife, we can comfort each other and overcome the grief. I am getting pension and owning property, I intend to return back after overcoming the inital grief".

Would such an answer result in immigration officer at POE to not give 6 months stamp on his passort?

Or else should he just say that he is on a vacation?

Thanks for your advice.

Has he already got the Visa or having a visa?
No need to give such kind of answers, the officer is not concern for such answers, they expect a berif , conveniening and geneuine answer so Just telling that visiting my son to spend some Quality Time and touring USA, expected to stay 6 months.

He has 10-year multiple entry visitors visa.

This will be his third visit. First visit for 4 months in 1999. Second visit for 1 year (with leagal extension) from Oct 2002 to Oct 2003.
