Hi,

Has anyone tried to go to the Delhi consulate for applying for B2 visa even though they are supposed to go to Chennai. ( due to their residence being in South India )

The reason I am asking is that I heard that Chennai has a huge backlog of applications because of which it takes time. Delhi consulate seems to have a lesser backlog.
But I also heard that we can switch consulates only in the case of an emergency to go to US and that we need to prove we have an emergency.

Please share if you had any experience.
What I wanted to know is whether it poses any risk to switch consulates OR they
don't really check where your residence is ?

Thanks,
N

Thank you, Murali.

I did go thru the experiences listed by a few people.
But I couldn't get a proper understanding.

From your experience, can you tell me whether I should take a chance and have
my parents go to Delhi consulate OR should I take the safe way out and go to Chennai
even though the processing time is more ?. Please tell me your gut feeling.

Also, if they go to Delhi and get rejected, can they immediately go to Chennai Or is there a waiting period ?. Also, since they already went to Delhi once, will they have to go the same consulate for reapplying ?. Are there any other risks in switching consulates ?Please clarify.

Many thanks for your time. Expecting a reply soon.
