Hi,
I am moving US in August with my wife and 3 months old baby on H1. Could any of you give some information about the expenditure for a month for a family (Me, My wife and a baby) in Atlanta? Also how much I need to spend for insurance (General medical / Dental / Eye) that covers everybody in my family as my employer is not covering that.
Please give me an idea about the above mentioned things.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
It all depends how you your life style is.
though indians usualls do not spend that much :-)
1. rent (around 1300 to 1800 for 2 bed appartment) it is a must since you have a baby
2. Car (new car would cost you 300 to 400 monthly payment) used car price will be from 3k to 10 k approx
3. family insurance through path2usa site will be around $200 for 3 people. (kid's will be free)
4. other groceries / fuel / shopping will be around $500
5. phone / internet/ electricity / trash / cable tv, etc will be around 300
you do the math..
other than that initial shopping will be a big burden (TV, kitchen items, furnitures, etc)
i would suggest ikea for furnitures, and check dealsofamerica.com for good electronics deals.
good luck
and let me know if you need any other info ;-)
Thanks
Arvi
