Hi,
I got my h1 stamped on 2nd July at Chennai consulate. My interview was scheduled at 10:20 am in the morning. I reached the Consulate by 9:30 in the morning. After the document verification and the long wait, I was allowed to enter the main building by 12:00. I was bit tensed as I got 221(g) last year when I applied through a consultant. My H1 was filed by a product development company this time.
The interview went as follows.
Me: Good morning, sir
VO: Good morning, sir
I handed over the main file (which VFS kept it in order) to him. He went through the DS-156, I797 and other documents (I129, LCA etc.).
VO: Sir, how many years do you have in Software?
Me: x years.
VO: Sir, what is the kind of work you are going to do there?
Mine is a product development company and the US employer had mentioned my roles and responsibilities in the project document. I explained the same.
In the meantime, he was typing something on the computer. I had mailed the consulate people about 221(g) last year and they had asked me to mention the same to the VO.
Me: Sir, my previous h1 application is on hold. I was issued 221(g) last year.
VO: Was the last year's h1 from the same petitioner?
Me: No sir
After some time;
VO: Sir, Are you married?
Me: Single, I am not married, sir.
Again typing something;
VO: Sir, you will get your visa by courier in 4 days time.
The whole process took hardly 3/4 minutes. He did not ask for any documents apart from the main file which contained only petition related documents. I got my passport today by courier.
I used to visit this site at least 10 times a day to read updates from other members.
Wishing you good luck in your visa interview.

It's not a good idea to disclose personal informations, if you don't know anyone as very reliable....not pointing to anyone....so don't get hurt by my comment....just my 2 cents

If somebody asks you where u work, I guess you could tell them. I don't think it would hurt if you are not enrolling with a Mafia gang. Also it wont hurt if you tell them I might be travelling to New Jersey in second week of August unless you are Amitabh Bachan. People mostly use their real names in the forum and give out personal phone numbers to network.

It is personal preference...Some ppl may not want his/her colleagues/friends to know their future plans..God knows if my manager also visits the path2usa.com..kidding...:)
The reason i posted the interview experience was to tell ppl that it is not real tough as they might think; if they have genuine docs and offer from a good company in US.. if you are applying through a consultant, it is mere luck....i have both experiences...
Btw, i am not Amitabh:-)

I did not ask his "personal" details, they are his employment details (actually info) that people will soon get to know about it, but most of the time people do not like to reveal employement details before they start working there.
I thought of asking personal info as my initial statement was, but realised that it is not a good idea so I asked only his employement info.

Hi USAspirant,
Congrats yaar. I want suggestion from you and senior people,.
I booked the appt on Aug 9th,2007 at chennai consulate.
My case is almost like yours only. Last year i got 221(g) - 2 times and finaly they refused my visa and sent all the documents to USCIS.
Now, i filed with new employer and he says that he will send a document with in house project details and mention on which project i will be working and duration stuff.
When VO asks..what is the kind of work you are going to do there?
I can say that i will be working on inhouse project and explain him all the details of the project and duration
or
question1:
any other answer should be given for an inhouse project stuff ?
question2 :
Is this project related document enough for the VO to convince him about the work i will be doing there ?
Appreciate your inputs on this.
Regards
Roy.

Hello,
Inhouse project is tricky unless it is a well known
company with at least 50 developers. Otherwise, VO may not
buy in. The VO might still ask for a letter from client or project agreement etc.
See, it will be tough to get a job if u end up in US
with these sort of consultants. If he is not able to
arrange a client letter for u, how will he make sure
that you get a job there.
Insist on client letter and project documents and
otherwise the chances of 221(g) are there. Ask him to
arrange some client interview while you are in India.
Instead of writing mails, make a phone call. That
could speed up the process.
Even though this is reality, i wish you a smooth H1
stamping experience.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your advice.
YEs i will call him and before going to intv..i will ask him to send me the client letter and project documents.
so that i can explain the same to VO about the project i will be working and i can show him the project document.
Is the Company Tax Papers necessary ? VO will ask these things also.
Once again thanks
Reg
Roy.
