In mumbai consulate dates for H1 are available only in September. All other consulates have lots of option in July-Aug. I am sure others from western India are facing this problems too.... What do the senior members suggest ...wait and watch or try other consulate? I am interested in getting a date in 1st week of Aug...

I have been following mumbai dates for sometime, I never saw july dates made available, maybe it is reserved for other types of visas.

They made August dates available starting from last of week of the month. So I booked Aug 31st, latter other days were also made available, so I rebooked for Aug 3.

August dates were there for quite sometime and it has been filled up recently and now only september dates are available.

You could book September dates and if you see dates in aug made available then you can reschedule it.

Another thing you could do is (probably the best one) create a new application fill in all the details and save the application without booking a date. Latter when you feel that your date is made available due to cancellation and stuff, you can simply retrive the application and confirm the date of the interview.

But you have to be carefull, you can only reschedule twice and reschedule involves cancelling the existing reservation and rebooking a fresh application (involving refilling of DS166 and DS157 forms)

In May last week, I tried to get a appt in Chennai for June 2nd week but nothing was available. I got it only for Jun 26,I could'nt get Emergency appt too. I did get my stamping done and am back in the US.

Just want to let you know the wait time in Chennai for visa appointments date is getting longer and you should expect it to be atleast a month, but then that is my experience
