Forgetting to check out from exit station

I left US from Chicago O'Hare last summer and although I handed in my I-94 form, I did not check out from any exit kiosk. I couldn't find any and when I ask the airport officials I was told that an attendant will do the check-out at the departure gate but that did not happen.

Is there a way to find out if this going to affect my entry into the country in the future and if so, how would I be able to amend the record?

No, should not be an issue. The exit procedure is not a must, and not everyone does it when they leave the country. I don't even believe it is available at all airports for visitors leaving US.

The exit procedure is a pilot implementation in selected airports and they decided to flush the process recently.
