Thanks to everyone in this forum for sharing valuable experience. My parents' visitor visa was granted yesterday at Chennai. Here are the details
Interview Date: June 20th
Consulate: Chennai
Background:
Both children (son and daughter) are in the US.
My parents are retired from service for about 10years
Interview questions:
VO: Good Morning. How are you?
Mom: Good Morning. I am fine. Thank you.
VO: (to my dad) What do you do?
Dad: I am retired
VO: Do you get pension?
Dad: No
VO: How do you manage living expenses?
Dad: I invested retirement benefits in post office, MIS, LIC, mutual funds and I get combined returns of about Rs XYZ per month
VO: How many kids do you have?
Dad: Two kids - a son and a daughter
VO: Where does your daughter live?
Dad: Redmond, Washington
VO: When did your son go to the US?
Dad: In <month>,<year>
VO: Did he study in the US?
Dad: Yes
VO: Who paid for son's education in the US?
Dad: Teaching assistantship
VO: Visa is granted. Expect your passports in about 4 to 5 days.
