Hi All,
I need your help.
I am applying for my parents visa this August. I have read many threads on the forum but any uggestions advices are welcome. I have roughly 2 months to build my case. I will be applying at the Mumbai Consulate.
1. I am currently on my OPT (started in Oct 2006) with H1 approved.
(H1 will kick-in in October 2007)
2. I was initially on an F-1 (student) visa since August 2002.
This July 2007 will be in US for 5yrs.
3. Working full time as a Market Research Analyst in US since Oct. 2006
4. Parents:
Dad: Retired (age 61)
Mom: Housewife (age 56)
5. My parents had applied twice in 2005, sponsored by my sisters husband and got rejected. (My sister lives in NJ)
6. I have one more sister who is married and lives in Mumbai.
My questions:
1. Do you think being on an OPT may be detrimental to the case? (I have all the H1 approval documents).
2. My dad doesnt own much property in Mumbai. He makes a decent (but not spectacular) income through is investments and fixed deposits. Do they also usually ask for financial documents frm my parents? In that case what amount will be a decent amount to be shown as their bank balance?
3. My dad speaks very well English, but I am still thinking of getting a translator. Any good/bad experiences with that?
4. Do you think my sister being in US will be a problem? Should I declare that in the application form?
5. Are their any other ties they can show to convice the VO?
6. I am getting engaged this summer, will marriage/engagement be a convincing reason? In that case I can register for a court marriage and try to get some supporting documents.
7. How much amount should I show as my bank balance? I am planning to call them just for 4-6 weeks since it will be too cold starting October.
Thanks in advance for all your comments.
