All,

Your valuable input is appreciated.

I am travelling to India next week along with my son (US Citizen)who is 4 months old. He has 10 year multiple entry visa. He can stay for 6 months in India based on 10 yr multiple visa.
But due to circumstances he will be in India for 5 years continuously.
What should I do if my son has to stay in India for 5 years continuously?
Should I apply for PIO card in India? Is it possible to apply for PIO card in India based on 10 yr multiple entry visa?

What are my options that will ensure that my son will stay in India for 5 years continuously?

Thanks
al.

Hi,

Hoping your son pp valid till whatever time he is planning to stay, you have to report to local govt (ex:police) personals every 6months about his extended stay.

I believe, even if you have PIO card, you need to do the same (unless you have Dual citizenship).

PS: NOT A LEGAL ADVISE

I am not a lawyer, but you can get this information just by using google.

a) You can apply for PIO card from India while you are on multiple entry visa.
b) You need not register every 6 months if you are on PIO. Just one time registration is enough (even this is not required for children below 16, but there are a few confusions about this).
