L1 to Approved H1(Oct 2005 approved)

I am right now in L1 and I have an approved H1 from Oct 2005. The employer sponsored for H1 is now ready to take me. Can I do the status change ? How long that takes ?

do u have any I94 attached with ur H1 approval?
To file for COS, u need to file I129 again.

Thanks Simran. I didnt recieve I-94 along with H1 approval. So, only with H1 approval, can I apply for change of status ? Is there a risk involved in this activity ? Or if the COS gets rejected(worst case), will it affect my L1 status ?

COS approval is always a 50/50. but it won't affect ur L1 status.
