Dear friends,
Although I'm happy, I am not jumping up and down yet. Is it because of that saying, "Once bitten, twice shy"?
The biggest reason that makes me uncertain is that no document was seen or taken. Not even the I-134? Is that OK?
This was the 4th attempt by my parents at Delhi consulate (1st three were at Bombay). Please see summary of first 2 at these links:
1st - http://forum.path2usa.com/forum/showpost.php?p=14554&postcount=1
2nd - http://forum.path2usa.com/forum/showpost.php?p=18950&postcount=1
3rd - I was so sad that I couldn't come back here and write about the misery. Sorry for that.
Here we go for 4th attempt:
Unlike first 3, this was different in several ways:
1. My father is retired now
2. They have moved from Baroda (Bombay Region) to Agra (Delhi Region)
3. I have my Green Card now. Previously, I was on AOS.
Their interview was on 5/11 at 9:00 AM. Unlike Bombay, the consulate office was not very busy and procedures were simpler. My parents were talking with the officer by 8:45 AM. There was no need of Hindi interpreter/translator as the office spoke Hindi quite well. Here are the questions:
Q. Why do you want to go to USA?
A. We want to go to visit America. We have a desire to see that place once.
Q. Who is sponsoring this trip?
A. My Son
Q. What does he do?
A. He is IT consultant
Q. Where does he work?
A. ____ Technologies
Q. In previous interview you said you have just one son?
A. There must have been some confusion. We have one son and one daughter.
Q. Will you come back?
A. We will come back a week earlier than the permitted time.
Q. Pakka?
A. Pakka
Then the officer said that you can go back now. Your passports will be sent via courier.
I hope I have reason to celebrate. But, I am keeping my fingers crossed. Please let me know
1. Are they (VO) supposed to take I-134 essentially?
2. Will they keep the passports for reasons other than approval?
3. Will they reject without giving any reason such as 214(b)?
4. How long it might take for passports to arrive?
Thanks to this forum and especially Murali for guiding me all along. All the best to everyone who are in the process and waiting for approvals.
