Visa appointment

I am trying to get an online appointment through VFS preferring "kannada" translator and i am unable to get any slots open so far. Has anyone faced similar situation or anyone recently whos got an appointment please help as to when to look for the appointments available ( is there any particular time to check) when there might more chances for any slots being open.Also i understand that we need to fill DS 156 and DS157 ( if applicable) during teh time we take an appointment, and not jut before by downloading the forms. Is that true.
