Hi,
My parents visited us in 2001(They had one year visa). I am on H1B. Now this year in March (03/2004), we had a baby. My wife's parents already have 10 year visa so they came for delivery. Now in July they will be going back. I want to invite my parents now.
Another problem that I have is my father fell down in May and broke his hip. So he can't walk for 3 months or so without crutches.
In this case what reason should they give for visiting USA. Should they say that they want to see their grand daughter( what r the chances of rejection here) or should they say pleasure trip and to see son( one question they can ask is with a broken leg or hardly able to walk, what pleaure trip are you going to take in USA). I don't know how to handle this.
Please advice.

Your concerns are genunie and they may ask.
So the reason could be to spend summer vaction and quality time with son or somthing similar. As far as unbale to walk temporarily, its not a problem for visa grant as in USA , such reasons cant stop people to ask for Visa etc..
So let them apply just prepare them for the interview and such questions

Thanks Murli,
I have another question in continuation. As i have seen in other threads that people do take help of their senators/congressman in getting a letter, which might prove helpful in visa acceptance. I am also planning to do so just because I don't want to take any chance. Any idea what the content of letter from senetor should be ?
Any idea/help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot

I dont thinkn that is somehting really important or really matters at consulate and depedns a lot on case to case basis.
However you can write a general application to senators/congressman asking their endorsement on that application and a note to consider you application.

Hi,
My mother is 60+ and father is < 60. I assume Drop Box is much better than a personal interview( of course both have their chances for rejection). I was thinking since my mother is eligible for drop box she should go for it and my father should take an appointment and then go for the visa.
Questions that I have are ?
1) On my mother's form DS-156, what should she write in column 34 which says "Names and Relationships of Persons Travelling with you"
Because my mother only will be applying through dropbox and if she writes my fathers name, won't they ask for his details ?? I am confused.
2) Also on her affidavit of support I-134, which I will be sending, what should I mention in field 3. "Name of Spouse and childeren accompanying or following to join person "
3) When my father goes for his interview what reason should he give for applying separately ?
4) Should he carry my mothers copy of visa( hopefully if she gets one by drop box).
Please reply ASAP because I came to know today itself that they are removing Drop Box from July -20 at Mumbai consulate.
Hoping for a quick response
Thanking in advance.
